Bahurani (1989)

Amit is an educated and intelligent man who has studied in USA. He is willing to get married to a girl of his compatibility and who is equally educated. His parents however get his married to Madhuri, who is intelligent and beautiful but a village girl. Amit rejects her instantly but his parents persist. Soon He thinks of a plan to get back at them. At the wedding he demands dowry from Madhuri’s parents as a joke. Thinking the wedding might not take place agree to it and get fake gold. When Amit comes to know about this he rejects MAdhuri even though the marriage is done but he hasn’t seen her face. A distraught MAdhuri goes to Bombay to get a job. Turns out her boss is Amit but he doesn’t recognize her and she changes her name to Malati. He soon begins to fall in love with her. She plays along and later her parents disclose her identity to him. He feels sorry and accepts MAdhuri as his wife. The film is directed by Manick Chatterjee and produced by Prem Lalwani. The music is composed by R D Burman. The star cast includes Rakesh Roshan,Utpal Dutt, Rekha, DevenVerma and Usha Kiron.
