Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006)

Murli Prasad Sharma, aka Munna Bhai, played by Sanjay Dutt loves listening to the radio just to hear the voice of Janhvi, played by Vidya Balan. One day she announces a quiz contest on her show about Gandhiji and Munna gets excited so along with his side kick Circuit, he bribes some professors to learn about Gandhi. He eventually wins the contest and meets Janhvi, who then invites him to give a lecture on the Mahatma to the senior citizens that live in a old age home she runs called second innings House. To prepare for this lecture, Munna goes to the library to learn and read all about Mahatma Gandhi. Three days without food or water he learns all about Gandhi and starts hallucinating where only he can see Gandhi in front of him talking to him. He tells Circuit about this but he pretends to agree with him although he cannot see Gandhiji. He goes to give the lecture and sees Gandhiji guiding him. He later gets called by Lucky, played by Boman Irani, who is a ruthless businessman to vacate a house where his daughter and son-in-law would live as per an astrologers advice. Munna instead tries to save the Second Innings House by having a nonviolent protest, based on the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. He tells his radio listeners to send Lucky ‘Get well soon’ flowers. Meanwhile his daughter who is to get married, finds out that she is a manglik and her father had lied to everyone including her that the date of her birth was misprinted. She then gets upset and depressed and goes to kill herself. She then calls the radio and speaks to Munna who gives her the advice of telling the truth to her groom. Janhvi who had left him comes back into his life and Lucky’s daughter’s marriage goes as planned. The movie is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The music is composed by Shantanu Moitra.
