Paathshala (2010)

Saraswati Vidya Mandir is going through some changes attuning it with the current trends. The new English teacher, Rahul Udyawar, played by Shahid Kapoor is very jovial and instantly becomes popular with the kids and is well liked by the other staff. He notices that the school’s management is taking things for granted and burdening the students with it. He thus gets together a couple of teachers and protests about it. However the school principal, Aditya Sahay, played Nana Patekar supports the managements decisions, and this seems to shock the teachers as they thought he would be more sympathetic to the staff and students after 32 years of being an educator. The school gets involved with PR and advertising of the school to get more recognition. The students are also encouraged to participate in reality TV shows, etc. It begins to take a toll on the students and they start protesting by going on a strike. The media now comes to record the happenings in the school seeing the chaos. Principal Sahay explains the situation but also resigns hoping to be back someday. The movie is directed by Milind Ukey and produced by Ahmed Khan and Shaira Khan. The music is composed by Hanif Sheikh.
