Sukhiram lives a life of struggle with his wife and two children. They treat him badly and have no respect for him or his widowed sister. His sister Laxmi leads a torturous life where she is shunned by the people of her community in her village. Just when she thought there is no end to her misery, she receives a letter stating that she has amassed a huge amount of wealth and is become rich. As soon as Sukhiram’s family and others hear of this, their attitude towards her changes and they give her respect. Unfortunately a lot of money has been spent in repaying debts thus Laxmi will be owner of a very small amount. She goes to stay with Sukhiram and they both don’t tell his family about the money affairs. Thus they treat her well thinking she is still rich. However Laxmi is afraid the truth will soon be out.
The film is directed by Sohamlal Kanwar and produced by Ashok Khanna. The music is composed by Usha Khanna. The star cast includes Nutan, Jackie Shroff, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Devan Verma, Amrish Puri, Om Shivpuri, Gulshan Grover and Bindu.
