“Pithamagan” (2003) is an action crime film by Bala. It stars Vikram, Suriya, Laila, and Sangeetha. It follows an imposter who befriends a social outcast convicted in a drug-peddling case in prison. However, when they are released from jail, they get entangled in a local drug lord's vicious scheme.

The film begins with an unidentified woman dies giving birth in a graveyard, leaving her child, Chithan, to be raised by the caretaker. Chithan, who grows up with minimal human contact and appears autistic, struggles to adapt when he searches for food in town. He is rescued by Gomathi, a marijuana dealer, and becomes loyal to her employer, Sekar. Chithan is arrested during a drug raid.

Sakthi, a con artist, protects Chithan in prison out of sympathy. After serving his sentence, he confronts Sekar to free Chithan. Chithan, misled by Sekar, commits a crime and is used as an accessory. Sakthi prevents him from returning to drug work. When the police arrest Chithan, Sakthi becomes an informant but is later killed by Sekar.

Chithan learns of Sakthi’s death and experiences deep emotions for the first time. He seeks revenge by destroying Sekar’s marijuana fields and ultimately kills Sekar, leaving the village with nothing left to lose.

“Pithamagan” (2003), directed by Bala, is a bleak, wrenching action drama that showcases Vikram and Suriya in their most muscular, fearless performances. It tracks the developing bond between a socially awkward orphan and a streetwise hustler, both trapped in a sordid world of drug abuse and child exploitation. With intense performances and a tragic narrative, the film explores loyalty, loss, and the human need for connection.
