Naina, played by Deepika Padukone, is a class topping medical student of her college. She is always studying and reading which makes her an outcast with her friends and classmates. When she bumps into her old classmate Aditi, played by Kalki Koechlin, she realizes how much she has missed out on life and takes the decision of joining Aditi on a hiking trip with the other group. She reconnects with old class mates like Bunny, played by Ranbir Kapoor and Avi, played by Aditya Roy Kapoor.
Later Avi finds a letter in Bunny’s bag that states he will be joining the Univerity in Chicago to study Journalism. Naina has fallen in love with Bunny but doesn’t tell him as he is a wanderer, thus love and marriage are not a part of his plans. An excited Bunny leaves feeling sad for missing his friends but excited about his new journey. Eight years later Naina has graduated and started working at a clinic while Bunny who works for FOX network comes to see his friends. They all meet at Aditi’s wedding to an engineer called Taran.
Bunny sees Naina with another man Vikram who is the wedding photographer and gets jealous. He fights with him and sends him away. He finally confesses his love to Naina and they kiss. The movie is directed by Ayan mukerji and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar and Karan Johar. The music is composed by Pritam.
