Mumbai, June 27th, 2025   Legendary Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan has welcomed the first anniversary of Kalki 2898 AD with warm congratulations and a smile-inducing suggestion of his return.


Looking back on the journey of the film, the iconic actor dubbed it an “honored privilege” to have played the character of Ashwatthama and expressed his desire to return to the franchise.

Having released on June 27, 2024, Kalki 2898 AD went on to become a blockbuster hit, grossing ₹1,000 crore gross worldwide. The movie wove traditional mythology with an inclusive, multinational, up–to-the-minute vision, creating an origin story for not just Wonder Woman, but what many are hailing as the start of a superhero cinematic universe.


Bachchan additionally shared that the script for the follow-up is done and that cameras would roll soon, with an expected release window late in 2026. He told us how excited he would be to get back to playing in the role if the stars align.
