Batwara 1947 Gets A Clearance By CBFC Without A Single Cut Given A Certificate
Batwara 1947 is an upcoming historical drama starring Sunny Deol and is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared without any cuts. Sunny Deol the main lead in the film took to his Instagram stories to confirm the same .

Batwara gets A certificate
Batwara 1947 has been cleared by the CBFC and a delighted Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol were pleased that without a single cut , the film has been awarded the A certificate. The film is about humanity and love during the partition. The movie is to be released on the 14th August during the Independence Day weekend which is apt for the film’s sentiments.
Batwara 1947 is based on a Moharjir family that crossed over to Lahore and occupies and abandoned Hindu Home after the Partition. The story is based on the acclaimed playwright Asghar Wajahat’s play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Namya E Nai. The narrative of the film focuses on the elderly Hindu woman who refuses to leave her home and the issues that rise between the Mohajir family and the woman. The film also celebrates the bonding between the two families with hope, humility and love in midst of the darkest chapters of human history.
Aamir Khan excited to be as the producer of the film
Batwara 1947 starring Sunny Deol is directed by RajKumar Santoshi and is produced by Aamir Khan for the first time. Aamir said in his statement tht this has been one of his favorite scripts of Dharmendra and that he is glad to be a part of the film.
Batwara 1947 also marks the reunion of the hit pair, Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi. The duo have been together in past given iconic hits like Ghatak, Ghayal, Damini . Sunny believes the audience have been waiting for the duo to come together and collaborate once again. Sunny Deol expressed they have been working on Lahore 1947 for many years and several actors heard the stories and many of them were supposed to do it but it didn’t happen then.
Film also stars Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh, Khushi Hajare and Kanikka Kapur.
Batwara 194 marks Preity Zinta’s return to acting after almost half a decade after she took a sabbatical from acting. The music is composed by A R Rahman with lyrics by Javed Akhtar .
The film is all set for its release on August 14th 2026
