Priyanka Chopra Jonas made a comeback to Indian Cinema with S.S. Rajamouli’s Varanasi calling it one of her most ambitious projects that is defining her career.  The epic drama helmed by Rajamouli has already filmed for over 14 months and with another six months of intermittent shooting that is still pending the grand release is expected to be in 2027


During the promotions of her recent film The Bluff, Priyanka Chopra had shared some exciting update on Varanasi, describing it as one of the most massive visions, she had revealed that the story travels across time and continents blending the adventures in a scale that one gets rarely seen in Indian Cinema. 


The film is going to be one of Rajamouli’s biggest ambitions and for the meticulous filmmaker that he is, the process ensures the film gets the time it deserves and the little that we have seen its going to be very cool and well-defined movie for Indian cinema. 


Varanasi will be a landmark in Priyanka’s film career. 


Priyanka Chopra who had earlier worked with S.S. Rajamouli and has brought the global recognition to India with his blockbusters like RRR and Baahubali: The Beginning, this project is more special as she believes it will be a landmark moment in her career. 


Priyanka also revealed that before she signed the film, she had one fun condition that she has insisted on having a dance number and that if she is returning to the Indian movies, he had to ensure she has a dance number said the actress with a laugh. 


About Varanasi 


Priyanka Chopra Jonas plays Mandakini while Mahesh Babu stars as Rudhra and Prithviraj Sukumaran essays the role of Kumbha.  The film is slated for its release on April 7th, 2027. The film is shaping up to be one of the biggest cinematic experience and spectacle in the making.
