In honor of Sridevi's fifth death anniversary, the critically acclaimed film English Vinglish will open in Chinese mainland theaters on February 24. The 2012 film will be distributed by Eros International and shown in 6,000 screens across mainland China. The Hindi family comedy-drama, directed by Gauri Shinde, marked Sridevi's 15-year absence from film and became India's official entry for the 2012 Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category.

English Vinglish tells the story of Shashi Godbole, a quiet, mild-mannered housewife who, due to her inability to speak or understand English, is subjected to daily minor insults from her well-educated husband and daughter. She rediscovers herself and reasserts her value as a result of her attempt to learn the language.
