The much-awaited romantic comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, starring Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, and Mrunal Thakur, has officially received a new theatrical release date. The film, which was earlier slated to hit cinemas on June 5, 2026, will now arrive a week later on June 12, 2026.
Directed by veteran filmmaker David Dhawan, the lively rom-com marks his reunion with producer Ramesh Taurani. The makers decided to shift the release date after the team behind Toxic, starring Yash, moved their film’s release to June 5, creating a potential box-office clash.
Confirming the change, Taurani said the decision reflects a sense of cooperation within the film industry. He clarified that Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai had announced the June 5 date months ago, but recent developments made it more practical to shift the release.
“We believe it’s healthier for the industry when filmmakers support each other rather than compete unnecessarily on the same date,” Taurani said, adding that the team chose to release the film on June 12 in the spirit of solidarity.
Despite the delay, the film’s promotional campaign will move forward as planned, with the trailer and music expected to roll out soon to build excitement for its mid-June premiere.
Packed with the trademark humor and energetic storytelling associated with David Dhawan’s films, the movie also features actors like Mouni Roy, Maniesh Paul, and Kubbra Sait in key roles.
