5 Biggest Flops Of Year 2023

In the year 2023, Bollywood brought back life in theatres after going through a tough phase as it attempted to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The boycott of Bollywood movies continued for three years, affecting box office numbers. Shah Rukh Khan made a comeback with his movie Pathaan, which turned out to be a blockbuster, making way for other movies to start generating money. Sunny Deol's movie Gadar 2 and Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan also broke many box-office records. Currently, Ranbir Kapoor's Animal is ruling the box office along with Dunki and Salaar.

However, amidst the box-office war, five movies released in 2023 faced severe criticism and disappointment at the box office and media. Despite high expectations, these movies failed to attract audiences and suffered significant losses at the box office.

1. Adipurush:


Directed by Om Raut and starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, this big-budget movie with a cost exceeding 600 crores faced heavy criticism and failed to meet expectations. The movie barely managed to make 300 crores at the box office. It ended up being a flop, disappointing both the makers and the audience. Adhipurush with a loss of 300 Crores became a huge flop of the year.

2. Tejas:


Featuring Kangana Ranaut and directed by Sarvesh Mewada Tejas was released in October 2023. This film, made with a budget of 70 crores, failed miserably at the box office, earning only around 4.25 crores. Kangana Ranaut faced backlash for the movie's poor performance, marking it as another major flop of 2023.

3. Mission Raniganj:


Starring Akshay Kumar this movie was released on 6 October in theaters. Despite Akshay Kumar's enthusiasm, this movie with a budget of 70 crores suffered a severe setback at the box office. It earned only 18 crores at the box office, making it one of the biggest flops of the year.

4. Shehzada:


Directed by David Dhawan's son, Rohit Dhawan, Shahzada was made with a budget exceeding 50 crores. The movie disappointed the audience and made only 32 crores at the box office, earning it a place in the list of super flops for 2023.

5. Ganapath:


Featuring Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon Ganapath was directed by Vikas Behl. Despite high expectations and a budget of 150 crores, this movie faced a loss at the box office, earning only 18 crores. It incurred a loss of over 130 crores for the makers, marking it as the biggest flop of 2023.
