Pratibha Ranta

tibha has two siblings, one elder sister by the name of Abha Ranta and a younger brother. Pratibha’s grandfather is Amichand Ranta, and her grandmother is Shanti Ranta.

Pratibha completed her schooling from Convent of Jesus & Mary School in Shimla in Himachal Pradesh and later continued her education at the Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management in Mumbai, where she pursued her graduation in film-making.

Pratibha Ranta is a vegetarian with a preference for home-cooked meals and prefers her Himachali cuisine.  She enjoys Pani Puri and loves potatoes in every form.  Having grown up in Himachal, this Pahadi girl loves the traditional dishes like the Phool Gobi ki Sabji or the kadhi and the traditional chulha.

Pratibha Ranta started her career in the entertainment industry by starting as a theatre artist and a professional dancer while she was living in Shimla.  She had moved to Mumbai with her sister Abha to pursue a career in modelling and acting in films.

In 2018, Pratibha had won the title of Miss Mumbai.  In 2020,  she was roped in the television serial ‘Qurbaan Hua’ in the Zee TV production along with the actor Karan Jotwani. The series ended in 2021, after which she made her web series debut in the romantic drama called ‘Aadha Ishq’ wherein she essayed the role of Rene Bhardwaj opposite Dharsheel Safary of the Taare Zameen Par fame and alongside Gaurav Arora.    Her character in the series was a bit of a mess and confusing, as the reviews stated.

She further had a leading role in the comedy drama film ‘Laapataa Ladies’ released in 2024, and this film went on to be a superhit.  She earned the IIFA Award for the Star Debut of the Year – Female which was a breakout role for her. Pratibha Ranta essayed the role of the swapped bride Jaya Tripathi Singh /Pushpa Rani, who had misled the cops. Her acting was par excellence that she stole the show as the fiercely independent girl who had hid her identity and went all out to bring a change in her life and fulfil her dreams, which is not possible in the rural sectors where girls have no say in any matter and are forced into marriage. 

Later, Pratibha Ranta played the role of Shama, a courtesan’s daughter, in the famous Netflix series, Heeramandi. Though she didn’t have much to do, she created a significant impact, and to be chosen by none other than the famous filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali itself was another feather in the cap for Pratibha. 

Pratibha has also been a part of the music video by the name of ‘Saccha Wala Pyaar’ in 2024.
