Major Saab is a Hindi-language action romantic movie released in 1998. The star cast of the movie features, Amitabh Bachchan, Navin Nischal, Ajay Devgn, Sonali Bendre, Nafisa Ali, Mohan Joshi, and Ashish Vidyarthi in lead roles. The movie was directed by Tinu Anand and its writers are Santosh Saroj and Robin Bhatt. The producer of Major Saab is Amitabh Bachchan himself.

Talking about the storyline of Major Saab, the plot of the movie revolves around the army major who decides to teach a lesson to a trainee who is admitted to the Military Academy by his father to change him into a good person. He constantly breaking rules and is hell-bent on getting a leave. However, the trainee boy changes his plans when he falls in love with Nisha who is the sister of a gangster. The movie takes a major turn when Major's help is required to save his girlfriend.

The music composer of the movie is Anand Raaj Anand and Aadesh Srivastava. Lyrics have been written by Anand Raaj Anand and Dev Kohli. Major Saab's song 'Sona Sona' was a big hit.

Amitabh Bachchan And Tinu Anand's Fight On The Sets Of Major Saab:

Major Saab was the first movie in which Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgan worked together. This was the fourth collaboration between Tinu Anand and Amitabh after hits like Kaliya, Shahenshah, and Main Azad Hoon. As per the reports, there was a fight between Amitabh Bachchan and Tinu Anand during the shoot. The reason behind this fight was Amitabh's demand for an extra take which was rejected by Tinu because of limited shooting time. Amitabh argued with Tinu stating that he is a producer, to which Tinu replied that if you are a producer then you should also direct this movie and walked out.


Major Saab had done good business at the box office and the profits earned from the movie were used to repay the debt of ABCL (Amitabh Bachchan's Production House). This movie was originally planned to be Amitabh Bachchan's comeback movie but due to schedule issues and various other reasons, Mrityudaata became Amitabh's comeback movie.
