Border (1997)

The story of the movie is based on the battle of longewala in 1971 between Pakistan and India. The battle began on 5th December, when an infantry brigade from Pakistan crossed the border and reached Longewala, 16 KM away. Many young Indian soldiers including Dharm Veer, Kuldeep, Bhairon, Mathura Das all guard the border all night and wait for the war to develop. While lying in wait, the soldiers remember their families and tell joyful and sad memories about their families back home. India finally receives victory but in the end a few soldiers survive and a few die. The families back home are given the tragic news. The movie is directed and produced by J P Dutta. The music is composed by Anu Malik and the lyrics are written by Javed Akhtar. The screenplay and story is written by J P Dutta. The cinematography is by Ishwar Bidri and the choreography is by Bhiku Verma and Farah Khan. The star cast includes Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshay Khanna, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt, Tabu, Sapna Bedi, Puneet Issar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Rajeev Goswami, Sudesh Berry, Amrit Pal, Mahavir Bhullar, Sanjeeva and Sharbani Mukherji.
