Chitrangada Singh

Chitrangada started her career in the entertainment industry as a model before she made her transition to the silver screen.

After she had completed her graduation she had begun modelling for big brands like ICICI Bank and Alukkas Jewelers among the few that she had.

She came to be noticed after she had performed in Gulzar’s music video Sunset Point.   The singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya followed and eventually she joined the film industry with her debut role in Sudhir Mishra’s film Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi in 2003, starring opposite Kay Kay Menon, Shiney Ahuja and Saurabh Shukla. For this film she earned the nomination for Zee Cine Best Female Debut Award for her performance in the film and received accolades for her role, the character that she played was with deep sense of dignity and decency.  

She subsequently acted in numerous commercial hits like the Yeh Saali Zindagi with co-star Irrfan Khan, Arunoday Singh and Aditi Rao Hydari .

 

She did the film Inkaar with Arjun Rampal, Deepti Naval and Kanwaljeet Singh among few other films.

 

She later acted in the film Kal: Yesterday and Tomorrow in 2005.

She took a sabbatical break between 2005 and 2008 and made her come back in 2008 with the romantic comedy film Sorry Bhai in the role opposite Sanjay Suri, directed by Onir.  The film starred Sharman Joshi, Shabana Azmi and Boman Irani. Unfortunately the film release was disastrous as it was the weekend of the terror attacks in Mumbai.

 

Her next film was Desi Boys with multi star cast such as John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Akshay Kumar in 2011.  She played the role of the good looking college teacher.

 

Singh also played the role of an aspiring singer from Delhi who goes to Mumbai to make money and gain fame in Sudhir Mishra’s film Yeh Saali Zindagi in 2011.

In 2012 she was in Shirish Kunder’s Joker as a performer of Item Number.    The item number that was originally voiced by singer Sunidhi Chauhan , Chitrangada recorded some portions of the song for the remix.  Infact she recorded her first song within the few days.

In 2013, she acted opposite  John Abraham in the film I  Me Aur Main.

Her mentor Sudhir Mishra offered her another short film Kirchivaan and the film Inkaar in 2013 .  She has also acted in Tamil film called Anjaan and she did a special appearance in the film for a song.

In 2015 ,she performed a special song with Akshay Kumar for the film Gabbar is Back.

Her most powerful yet a silent role for which she won a lot of accolades was as Mandira the wife of Shakun Kothari ( Saif Ali Khan) the main protagonist in the 2018 released film Bazaar.




Chitrangada is the brand ambassador for many top brands such as Airtel , Parachute, Puma, Borges Olive Oil, Garnier, Aliva Crackers , Taj Mahal Tea and Joyalukkas Jewellers.She has also endorsed the brands like Tata Group’s Tanishq jewellery and their Titan Eye Plus.
