Sharad Malhotra made his acting debut in 2004 with the role of Prince Goldy in Princess Dollie Aur Uska Magic Bag. His first major role as the lead was Sagar Pratap Singh in Banoo Main Teri Dulhann.

He got his first breakthrough with the role of Maharana Pratap Singh in Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap. He is also known for his portrayal of Rishi Singh Bedi in Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki, Naagin 5 in which portrayed the Prince of Shape Shifting Cheels which was named Veeranshu Singhania Malhotra a grey shaded hero. He made his film debut in 2012 with From Sydney with Love.

In 2021 Sharad Malhotra released his original music video called Bepanah Pyar with Vyrl followed by Beypanah Ishq in August 2021. In the same year, he also appeared with Helly Shah in a peppy song Halo Re Halo and with Adaa Khan in a romantic song Door Ho Gaya.

In October 2021, he portrayed the role of Bakshi Jagabandhu in StarPlus’s historical drama Vidrohi. It was his second historic character. The show went off air after 5 months of telecast in the month of March 2022. In the same year in February, he appeared in short film called Not Out alongside Karan Wahi in which they both essayed the role of best friends.

Sharad attended the acting workshop and did modelling after he had shifted to Mumbai. He was one of the first male models to do the jewelry campaign. He started his career with India’s Best Cine stars Ki Khoj as a Contestant in 2004. Besides his debut film he also did a cameo role in Kabhi To Nazar Milao.

In his first major role in 2006 in the television show he played the lead role opposite Divyanka Tripathi and later was seen as Amar Upadhyay . The show was successful and it ended in 2009. He also participated in Dance Reality Show named Yeh Hai Jalwa with Ronit Roy, Shweta Tiwari, Rakhi Sawant and other various popular television celebrities.

He took a break from the television career and went to attend the New York Film Academy in the year 2009. In 2010, he reappeared as a contestant for the Nachle Ve with Saroj Khan . in 2012, Sharad got his debut film as Rohit Khurana in From Sydney with Love.

Sharad Malhotra appeared in two Hindi films in 2016, My Father Godfather playing the role of Prakash and in Ek Tera Saathi he played the Kuwar Pratap Singh. In 2017 Sharad appeared in his first music video , Paas Baitho Na.

Sharad appeared as a guest on Comedy Nights Bachao .He also portrayed Raunak Singh in Star Bharat’s Muskaan between 2018 and 2020.

In 2021, Sharad Malhotra won the Iwmbuz Award as the Trendsetter of the Year. He also ranked at number 7 in The Times Most Desirable Men on TV in 2020.

In 2023, Sharad was awarded the Best Foreign Actor at the Blue Star Awards in Vietnam for Nagin 5.

He has done short films like She’s D One and Prem Gajra Aur Chilli Chicken in 2018 which he also directed. Pasta in 2020, Butterflies : Not Out in 2022 and Thanks Mom in 2023.

Sharad Malhotra has also acted in a web series called Honey Trap Squad in the role of Mirage in season 1.
