Suraj Sharma

arsh Sharma who has also acted in two films, and a younger sister named Dhruvatara Sharma.   Suraj had attended Sardar Patel Vidyalaya Secondary School, and later he did his graduation from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi.

With no prior experience during his audition , that he attended along with his brother for the role of Pi Patel in Life of Pi in 2012. Piscine Molitor’s role for which she went through several rounds of auditions. He won the title role beating out 3000 other young men.   

Director Ang Lee mentioned he had selected Suraj Sharma based on his expressive eyes and his innocent features.    Sharma had no only the right emotions but also had the look, required for the role of ‘Pi’. He had an advantage with average built with medium complexion which deemed perfect for the role.  The film won four Academy Awards, Sharma’s performance received positive reviews for his role and he was nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award. 

In 2014, Suraj Sharma portrayed Aayan Ibrahim in Season 4 of the Showtime series Homeland.  The role was of the nephew of a terrorist in the political thriller series called the Homeland.  From 2018 to 2020 he starred he essayed the role of  Rakesh Singh in the CBS comedy Drama Series , God Friended Me.  

He also portrayed Rinku Singh in the sports biopic called Million Dollar Arm with co-star Tony Revolori in the Indian comedy drama Umrika which was premiered at the Sundance Film Festival,  2015.

In 2016, Suraj starred in the Mongolian American adventure drama film Burn Your Maps. He portrayed the role of Kanan Gill in his very first Bollywood venture, Phillauri, by Anshai Lal’s romantic comedy film, which he co-starred with Anushka Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh.  

In 2018, Suraj appeared in the American Science fiction, Black Comedy Slasher film Happy Death Day 2U, which was a sequel to 2017, Happy Death Day by Christopher Landon’s. 

Suraj has had many films to his credit, such as How I Met Your Mother’s spin-off series called How I Met Your Father, which was led by Hilary Duff.  In November 2021,  Hilary Duff confirmed the star cast via social media accounts that the series would premiere in 2022 on 18th January.   On 15th February in the same year, Hulu renewed the series for a  20-episode second season. 

Suraj Sharma appeared as Hassan in the Indian American English language drama titled The Illegal by Danish Renzu.

Sharma had a few more upcoming projects in Post Production which including Strobe and This Tempting Madness. He was also involved in the television series Star Wars: Visions and a project called Revolution: Padhai Ki Ladai based on education. 

The film ‘Strobe’ is currently in post-production, where Suraj is involved.
