s. In her passion to become a Hollywood actress, she watched many Hollywood movies but as she grew she realized that Hollywood is a distant dream. As she was interested in exploring her beautiful figure and dreamt of a glamorous career she began her journey with TV and started to host television shows in Bahrain at the age of fourteen. Later she did her graduation in Mass Communication from the University of Sydney in Australia and started working as a television reporter in Sri Lanka After winning the Miss Universe Sri Lanka pageant her dreams took shape When Jacqueline Fernandez was working as a TV reporter for Sri Lanka, she was simultaneously also doing modelling assignments to grab the attention of film world. However, her luck changed when she was crowned the winner of the Miss Universe Sri Lanka pageant in 2006 held in Los Angeles. She started getting more modeling assignments and in 2009 she landed in Mumbai for a modeling assignment when she got her first film Aladin, opposite none other than the superstar of Millennium Amitabh Bachchan!

Jacqueline Fernandez was disappointed by Aladin's audition hundreds of girls had auditioned for Aladin. Hence Jacqueline Fernandez was a bit nervous. Recalling her first audition she said, “Film director Sanjay Ghosh advised me not to much focus on the character but try to be as natural as possible. I had been asked to talk about my happy and sad movement of life but I messed with my lines and giggled. I felt it was my worst audition.” But to her delight the same evening she received a call that she had been finalized as the heroine of the film. She said, “Maybe I was selected because while narrating my sad movement of life I was carried away as I recalled my life’s bitter phase and tears swelled in my eyes.” Jacqueline Fernandez had turned down Murder 2 as she was frustrated with failures in Bollywood Though Jacqueline Fernandez got a dream debut in Aladin and also fetched the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year and Stardust Awards - Best Female Debut but the film was a box-office disaster. Her second film Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai opposite Riteish Deshmukh was a super-duper flop despite special appearances by top Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar, Farah Khan, Karan Johar, Priyanka Chopra etc. The film critics too criticized Jacqueline Fernandez badly. Frustrated she decided to go back to Sri Lanka and focus on other career options. When she was above to depart India she received a call from Mahesh Bhatt Films and was offered Murder 2. But she was disheartened by flops and film critic’s taunts hence she declined to do the film. But Mahesh Bhatt cajoled her and convinced her about her success. He tactfully entices Jacqueline Fernandez to narrate the story of Mallika Sherawat, and how her career had gone into oblivion with a series of flop films like Jeena Sirf Merre Liye, Khwahish, Kis Kis Ki Kismat but with Murder (2004), Bhatt films gave her a new lease of life and made her an International star! Jacqueline Fernandez trusted Mahesh Bhatt and Bhatt films’ Murder 2 lived up to its promise and made Jacqueline Fernandez a star! Jacqueline Fernandez signed Housefull 2 as it gave her another opportunity to exploit her comedy sense When Jacqueline Fernandez was doing Aladin, she met famous filmmaker Sajid Khan, who was impressed by her gorgeous figure hence to woo her he offered her item number in his film Housefull (2010). The song Aapka Kya Hoga Dhanno … became a national craze. The success of the song encouraged film producer Sajid Nadiadwala to cast Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead role in Housefull 2. Though Jacqueline Fernandez was getting many offers after Aladin she rejected many as most were a repetition of Murder 2 and Jacqueline Fernandez did not want to get trapped in a particular image. However, when Sajid Nadiadwala offered her Housefull 2, she was excited as it gave her a new opportunity to tap her comedy sense. Recalling how she was left astounded when Sajid Nadiadwala called her to sign for Housefull 2 she said, “While I was doing Aladin at Kolkatta with Sanjay Ghosh, I received a call from Sajid Nadiadwala that he plans to sign me for his forthcoming film Housefull 2. I was flabbergasted and could not believe to was on the plane of top stars like Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Asin Thottumkal, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and others.” After the comedy, Jacqueline Fernandez stunned the audience with a negative role in Race 2 Before joining Bollywood Jaqueline had studied acting under Acting Guru and theatre legend Barry John, who trained Shahrukh Khan. Hence she wanted to prove that she was not just a glamour doll but a bundle of talent and this she proved with her next film, Race 2 in which she played a dark negative character with panache. She did stunning stunts and even learnt horse riding for the film. The movie was a hit and made critics take notice of her histrionics. After Kick Jacqueline Fernandez became a star to reckon After Kick Jacqueline Fernandez was flooded with offers but she wisely selected her roles caring little if it’s a mother role as in Brothers opposite Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra. In 2016 she gave a series of commercial successful films like Housefull 3, and Dishoom. She is presently engaged in shooting Chandran Rutnam's English-Sri Lankan crime thriller ‘According to Mathew’; She is doing another thriller Reloaded with Siddharth Malhotra and is signed by Sajid Nadiadwala’s Judwaa 2 opposite Varun Dhawan and Taapsee Pannu, a sequel to the 1997 comedy film Judwaa, starring Salman Khan.
