The film is about Janaki, a kind woman wrongfully imprisoned for murder, who fights to clear her name and rebuild her life with the help of advocate Lakshmi and her troubled brother Gopi. As secrets unravel, the family faces deep challenges, but truth and love bring them back together.
Janaki, a gentle woman imprisoned for murder, surprises the jail authorities with her kind nature. When asked about her past, she reveals she was wrongly accused of killing a wealthy man, Paranthaman, who had attacked her sister, Susila. Janaki rushed to the scene, but the real killer fled, leaving only a neck injury as a clue. With Susila missing and no proof of her innocence, Janaki was sentenced to death. Advocate Lakshmi stepped in, proved Janaki’s innocence, and secured her release. With no home to return to, Janaki is offered a fresh start by Lakshmi, who proposes marriage to her troubled brother, Gopi.
Janaki is uncertain, but agrees. Gopi is cold to her because he is still obsessed with an old girlfriend that he has broken up with, but as time goes on and it's clear that Gopi will not return to his principled past life, he begins to acknowledge Janaki's loveliness. All is further complicated when Lakshmi's fiancé, Sathish, tells Janaki that he will not marry Lakshmi unless Janaki surrenders herself to the authorities. Janaki agrees under a misunderstanding that Susila has died. At the same time, she learns Sudha’s lover, Kamal, has a birthmark that matches the real killer. Kamal acknowledges that he was present but denies killing Paranthaman. On Lakshmi and Sathish's wedding day, Susila appears and confesses to the murder. The truth comes out, Janaki is exonerated, and the family is finally together and at peace.
