“Adithya Varma” is a Tamil romantic drama film directed and written by Gireeshaaya. The film stars Dhruv Vikram and Banita Sandhu. It is a remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy from 2017.
“Adithya Varma” (Dhruv Vikram) is an intelligent medical student but not much liked because of his possessive nature and his tendency to rage at the least of reasons. He encounters “Meera Shetty” (Banita Sandhu), a shy first-year student, one day and falls in love with her when he first sets eyes on her. Adithya would not let him leave, taking charge of her life, and although Meera is hesitant at first, she gets attracted to him with the passage of time. Meera and Adithya's love becomes stronger after Adithya shifts to Mussoorie for his post-graduation in orthopedics.
But it's not long-term. Meera's father objects to their marriage due to caste and Adithya's explosive temper. Her father arranges her marriage and destroys Adithya. He finds it hard to accept this, and Adithya becomes a heavy drinker, drug addict, and one-nighter, losing control completely. He even lands himself in trouble after making a scene at Meera's wedding and gets kicked out of his house by his own father.
Although he has a problem, Adithya is a successful doctor, but he still nurtures the habit. His life finally catches up with him as he passes out in the operating room. He tests positive for drugs, and his practicing license is suspended for five years. Adithya is finally persuaded to change his ways with no loss.
One day, Meera encounters Arjun by coincidence while she is pregnant. She tells him that she has separated from her husband and that the father of her unborn child is Adithya. They get married, and Meera's father accepts their relationship.
The film was condemned, but at the moment it is possible to stream it on Netflix in various languages.
