“Ayalaan” is a 2024 Tamil science fiction film directed by R. Ravikumar and produced by KJR Studios. Featuring Sivakarthikeyan and Rakul Preet Singh, the film combines action, comedy, and adventure with a special twist of aliens.
The film tracks the life of “Tamizh”, a free-spirited individual from Poombarai who loves nature with all his heart. Forced to go to Chennai for employment, he gets into a surprise party company and becomes infatuated with Tara, a woman. His life becomes dramatically altered after meeting Tattoo, an extraterrestrial being sent to earth to fetch Sparc, a source that has the potential to be abused by mankind. First shaken to his core, Tamizh becomes a close friend to Tattoo and takes him to his friends.
Simultaneously, “Aryan”, an evil scientist, is pursuing Sparc, assuming it is the secret to his lethal Nova gas project. Following a series of pursuits, Tamizh and Tattoo manage to retrieve Sparc, but Aryan never gives up. Tattoo departs from Earth to prepare, and Tamizh is stabbed by Aryan's aide, Eliza. When he sees his friend in danger, Tattoo uses his abilities to save Tamizh, incidentally transferring part of his abilities to him. However, Aryan captures Tattoo and kidnaps Sparc, leading to an action-packed finale.
“Ayalaan” is a delightful mix of action, emotion, and humor. Sivakarthikeyan's charm, the engaging buddy relationship between Tamizh and Tattoo, and the film's suspenseful visual effects make it a refreshing sci-fi movie for Tamil cinema. The film has a message of nature, friendship, and opposing evil and therefore emerges as a family film for all ages.
