"Chella Kutty" is a 1990s Tamil romance drama movie directed by Sagayanathan and produced by V. Manibhai under Sri Chitra Pournami Film. The film stars Dr. Ditto, Mahesh, Deepshika, and Simran in pivotal roles.

The story follows three school buddies, “Mahesh, Tito, and Deepika” on their journey of love, loss, and life. Deepika is secretly loved by Mahesh, while she is in love with his friend Tito. He loves Deepika dearly despite that, but Mahesh never confesses his love to her because he fears being rejected and wants to maintain their friendship.

The life of Mahesh turns tragic as he fails his exams and fights with disappointment. Finding it impossible to handle the failure, Mahesh meets his tragic end, leaving Deepika and Tito heartbroken. Deepika becomes more fond of Tito as time passes by, but Tito does not reciprocate her love in consideration of his deceased friend. The narrative becomes an emotional one when Deepika, in her heartbreak, decides to grasp Mahesh's memory and accustomed herself to her own feelings.

The movie stays true to the 90s sensibility with the period setting, school friends, and teenage sentiments. It is capable of capturing the innocence of first love, the pain of unrequited love, and the power of friendship and loss on adolescent hearts in a classy manner.

Dr. Ditto and Mahesh perform well, coasting from careless schoolboys to actors burdened with emotion. Deepshika's portrayal of Deepika is delicate and natural, giving depth to the emotional journey of her character. Simran, barely noticeable, leaves a lasting impression. The supporting cast, with Madhumitha as the principal and Sams as a teacher, bring moments of warmth and laughter.

With its emotionally charged center, realistic narrative, and vibrant performances, "Chella Kutty" is a poignant love story of sacrifice and friendship that makes the audience remember the happiness and sorrows of youth.
