Doctor

"Doctor" (2021) is an action comedy written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sivakarthikeyan under the banner of Sivakarthikeyan Productions, with the co-production of KJR Studios. It features Sivakarthikeyan, Vinay Rai, and Priyanka Mohan in main roles. It is about a military doctor getting entangled in a personal cause to save an abducted child.

Varun (Sivakarthikeyan), a self-controlled and emotionally stoic physician working in the Indian Army Medical Corps, gets a voicemail from his fiancée, Padmini (Priyanka), informing him that she is calling off their engagement. When Varun goes to her family, he finds out that she feels that he is too aloof to have a future together. During this period, Padmini’s young niece, Chinnu, goes missing. The family turns to the police for help but becomes disillusioned with the lack of progress.

After making up his mind to take action, Varun devises an out-of-the-box strategy by kidnapping the daughter of the assistant commissioner to force the authorities into action. His daring action leads to the arrest of Kamala Kannan, a central character involved in a human trafficking network. Varun then forms a team, comprising his family members and colleagues, to continue the search for Chinnu.

The probe takes them to Goa, where they spot Alvin and Melvin, twins connected with the trafficking ring, and Terry (Vinay), the owner of a hotel who is the head of the operation. Varun joins the gang posing as another trafficker and finds out about their operations. With the situation taking a turn, Varun deals with Alvin, who avenges his brother Melvin's death. In a climactic confrontation, Varun saves the children, including Chinnu, and disbands the network of traffickers.

Three months pass, and Varun is back to normal life. Having proved his humanity through his actions, he makes amends with Padmini, and they get married eventually, closing the chapter on their journey.
