Under the direction of C. V. Rajendran, Garjanai (1981) is a science fiction thriller film. It stars M. N. Nambiar, Rajinikanth, Madhavi, Geetha and Jaishankar. The movie revolves around an honest doctor, Vijay, who uncovers a lethal plot following a small girl's death from poisoned chocolates. Personal catastrophes propel him to strive for justice at any cost as he struggles to reveal the masterminds behind the plot.

Dr. Vijay is an honest, and kind doctor who lives with his sister Rekha and their widowed mother. He comes across a little girl called Asha one day who misreads him as her father. She lives with her grandfather and is alone. Vijay starts seeing her daily after finding her true father has passed away, bringing chocolates to get her smiling. One day, though, Asha becomes very sick and passes away in the hospital. Vijay examines the chocolates suspiciously and discovers they include a poisonous substance. It turned out a criminal gang was secretly profiting by selling the antidote.

Vijay joins with a sympathetic DCP officer to unearth the facts. He, meanwhile, encounters Geetha and they fall in love. Later, he learns that Geetha's father, Prof. Jaidev, developed the poison but was trying to prevent its use. The gang, under the direction of Dr. Mithra and Parasuram, murders him before he can help. Vijay's family is devastated when his sister's groom passes away from poisoning, and his mother collapses from the shock. Vijay finds out the DCP was involved, and he kills himself. Vijay saves Geetha from the bad guys in the climax. Parasuram is poisoned by his own drug, and the police arrest the rest.

Against the background of a sinister plot, Garjanai offers a fascinating combination of suspense and emotional depth. While examining ideas of justice, betrayal and personal loss. The movie moves steadily and preserves the suspense. Its atmospheric tone, captivating turns and intense moral struggle create a fascinating movie experience. With intense moments, and a powerful climax, Garjanai stands out as a solid science fiction thriller with emotional resonance.
