The film showcases the story of a 9 year old boy called Gattu who works with his uncle in a garbage recycling plant. He has never been to school and is illiterate but has seen many children and adults fly kites and has taken a liking for it. Kite flying has almost become an obsession for Gattu as he is growing up, as he is picking up the nuisances of kite flying from watching people.

Gattu is desperate to defeat the ‘Kali’, which is a black ferocious kite, so to say, as it has been deemed impossible to conquer in the skies. Its origin itself is a mystery. No one has been completely successful in defeating it. Gattu later learns that a nearby school’s roof has the perfect vantage point for him to beat the Kali. So Gattu fakes being a student of the school and enters inside, even though he is uneducated.

The little boy is hell bent of fulfilling his dream and keeps at it till the very end with immense gusto of a warrior. The movie is directed by Rajan Khosaand produced by Children’s Film Society, India. The music is composed by Sandesh Shandilya and cinematography is by Satya Rai Nagpaul.
