Grihapravesh is a poignant Bengali family romantic drama written and directed by Indraadip Dasgupta, who also pens the story, screenplay, dialogues, and music. Produced by Samiran Das under the banner of Kaleidoscope, the film brings together stellar performances by Kaushik Ganguly, Subhashree Ganguly, and Jeetu Kamal. With cinematography by Pratip Mukhopadhyay and editing by Sujay Dutta Ray, the film is set in a timeworn Rajbari in North Calcutta, where echoes of the past linger in every corner.
The story follows Titli, whose life takes a turn when her husband Shaon mysteriously disappears soon after their wedding. Left to care for her ailing in-laws, Apratim and his wife, with help from Bilu and the loyal Minati, Titli shoulders the weight of both duty and longing. In her search for renewal, she decides to convert the ancestral mansion into a homestay for Durga Puja, a move that ushers in change and new connections.
When Megh, a doctor and photographer returning from abroad, becomes her first guest, Titli’s world begins to shift. Amidst festive lights, music, and memories, she rediscovers her own strength and capacity for love.
A moving exploration of resilience, healing, and the quiet beauty of human connection, Grihapravesh captures the soul of Bengal’s traditions while embracing the inevitability of change.
