Mr. Shrivanastav is unable to bear the expenses and responsibility of his large family that comprises of his wife, two daughters Sangeeta and Geeta and son Ashok. He thus leaves home overwhelmed and decides to take up celibacy. Ashok in the meantime gets into drinking heavily and is unable to find a suitable employment. He lives off the only working person in the house, Sangeeta. Geeta is widowed and now lives with
them. When their father finally returns home, Sangeeta is relieved that she can finally marry her love Prem and quit her job. But that never happens as he leaves again. Things take a drastic turn in Sangeeta’s life once again when she finds out that Geeta is in love with Prem. She arranges their wedding. Soon the family is in dire straights for money and rents out a room to an unemployed youth Anand, who secretly
loves Sangeeta. One day he saves the life of Kalpana, and Sangeeta decides to get them both married. Meanwhile her boss proposes marriage to her and Ashok finally quits drinking and starts working as a waiter. The film is directed by T Rama Rao and produced by A V Subha Rao.
