Kalpana is a happy-go-lucky girl but has a unique problem of lying. She is a compulsive liar and often lands herself as well as her family members in trouble because of her habit of lying. She however believes that if lying is done for a good cause, it is a good thing and will do no harm to anyone. She thus sets up her sister Alpana with a boy named Rasik and her brother Kamal with Seema, lying all the while through. She herself falls deeply in love with Dr. Anil. The film is directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and produced by Debesh Ghosh. The music is composed by Bappi Lahiri. The story is written by Bimal Dutta and the screenplay is by Sachin Bhowmick. The dialogues are written by Rahi Masoom Reza.The star cast includes Raj Babbar, Amol Palekar, Rekha, Dina Pathak, Goga Kapoor, Madan Puri, Deven Verma, Prema Narayan and Shammi.
