Aravind (Ashok Selvan) is always perceived as a middle-bencher, not too good and not too bad, ignored by his parents, teachers, and friends. He secretly likes Janani (Priya Anand), a sharp and ambitious student who aspires to be a journalist. They both attend the same college for journalism after school. When Aravind confesses to Janani, she rejects him, asking him to make himself worth it first. Hurt and desperate, Aravind attempts to commit suicide but accidentally saves Sathya's (Samuthirakani) son. The rescue video goes viral, and Aravind becomes an overnight sensation. He begins getting attention, makes friends with Janani, and even receives a scholarship for a journalism course in London, all arranged secretly by Sathya.
While Aravind indulges in the surprise attention, he is still conflicted on whether to inform Janani of the reality. Meanwhile, Inspector Yogendran (John Vijay), who harbours a resentment against Sathya, continues to attempt to kill him. While participating in one such attack, Janani gets injured in an accident. Subsequently, Sathya is murdered, and Janani comes to know from Aravind's classmate Sanjay that Sathya was responsible for Aravind's success. Betrayed, she distances herself from Aravind. It becomes worse when Aravind gets expelled from college and disowned by his father. Far from giving up, he begins an NGO to feed the hungry. When Janani watches an interview of Aravind's truthful work, she gets to know his real nature. The two finally come together.
