Babulnath is an independent and happy-go-lucky college going boy. He decides to visit his uncle who lives in the Konkan to spend some quality time with him and enjoy the scenic beauty of the place. There he meets a devdasi named Mahananda and both become friends. In no time the two fall in love and she becomes pregnant with his child. Babulnath promises her that he return soon one day to marry her. Promtly he returns to ask for Mahananda’s hand in marriage from her uncle, but he gets some devastating news. Her uncle tells him that she is now already married to someone else and will not see him anymore. Babulnath is upset over this horrible news and leaves in disappointment.

 

A few years later Babulnath visits the same village again and meets a girl named Damayanti. Turns out she is his daughter who Mahananda had given birth to. She takes him to her mother and turns out that her uncle had lied to her as well as Babulnath as her uncle believed that Devdasis don’t get married. Babulnath then takes Damayanti and Mahananda to Bombay to live a happy life finally. The film is directed and produced by Mohan Kavia. The music is composed by Manas Mukherjee and the story is written by Jaywant Dalvi. The star cast includes Farooque Sheikh, Moushumi Chatterjee,Sulbha Deshpande, Shreeram Lagu and Ashalata.
