Meera, directed by M.R. Bharathi, is a 1992 romantic musical film. It stars Vikram, Aishwariyaa Bhaskaran and Master Tarun. The film tells the story of Meera, whose life is turned upside-down when she becomes the only witness to a murder carried out by a crooked cop. When her alarming knowledge makes her his target, the dark and sadistic Jeeva stops at nothing to eliminate her. Jeeva, an innocent guy who is unlucky flees in love with her, tries to save her from a deadly threat, putting everything on the line to protect her life.

Meera, a college student, narrates her way into a long flashback where she’s made to fall in love with Jeeva, a man she hates. After an argument with Jeeva, she sees a woman getting shot by a policeman, the very murderer. The police officer reacts by sending his goons to murder her, forcing Meera to go on the run. Jeeva challenges the goons, and they thrash a maid. Jeeva enters into action to beat them. The maid urges the killer to pursue her. So the murderer orders six other professional killers to eliminate the two.

After Meera and Jeeva are captured by a cartoonish, inept cop, they escape to a blacksmith’s shop, where scoundrels nearly murder them. Having had a heartwarming change of heart, Meera reunites with her goons, holding Jeeva captive, and they bust him out. She professes her love for Jeeva on a giant whiteboard. They wash ashore in the ocean by Jesu grandfather’s home, where they are taken to safety. Jesu’s dog runs off into the woods, the goons kill the dog, and then hunt Meera. They escape on Jesu’s motorcycle, but Jesu is shot dead. Jeeva murders them in revenge as an adamant Jeeva goes after the goons, killing them in style. In one last confrontation, the killer gains the advantage, but Meera kills him by shooting him and then setting him on fire. As an epilogue, the last scene is a cast group photo, but as they take the picture, Meera goes into labour.

Meera is a fiery romantic thriller that fuses raw emotional drama and nail-biting action. Through its ethereal score, propulsive story, and tender melancholy, the film renders a young woman’s harrowing struggle to survive against impossible odds. When threat casts a long shadow, strands of connection, bravery and righteousness weave their way through the story with great tenderness and resolve. The narrative further captivates audiences with thrilling turns and an emotional ending that truly resonated.
