"Monkey Man" is an action thriller film released in 2024, directed by Dev Patel and produced by Jordan Peele. Co-written by John Collee, Paul Anguanawel, and Dev Patel, the film combines compelling action with an intensely emotional narrative. The film was released in Canada and America in April 2024 and has not been released in Indian theaters yet, thanks to Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) delays.

Set in an Indian forest village, the movie is about Kid, a boy who is fascinated by his mother Neela's tales of Hanuman. Their peaceful life is shattered when Baba Shakti, a corrupt spiritual guru, and Rana Singh, a brutal police chief, massacre the village to take over their land. Neela sacrifices her life to save Kid, leaving him orphaned and scarred.

Years on, Kid, now a masked street brawler at Tiger's Temple, plans his revenge. Incognito as a worker at Kings, Queenie Kapoor's brothel, Kid tries to kill Rana but gets away, leaving him to run for his life. Wounded and in hiding, he takes shelter in a hijra temple headed by Alpha, a sympathetic leader. There, Kid goes through a spiritual experience, conditioning not only his body but also mind to battle for revenge as well as justice against the oppressed.

The plot builds up towards an electrifying climax on Diwali. Kid, having been joined by Alpha and her warriors, attacks Kings to face Rana and Baba. With naked determination and make-shift arms, Kid repays his mother's death, overthrows the tyrannical government, and gives his life for the good of others, exemplifying dedication and hardihood inspired by Hanuman.

"Monkey Man" is a thrilling mix of action, emotion, and cultural diversity, evoking themes of vengeance, justice, and spiritual rebirth. Despite challenges in its Indian release, it is an eagerly anticipated must-see film for those interested in action-filled dramas.
