DNA (2025) is a crime thriller drama directed by Nelson Venkatesan. It features Atharvaa, Nimisha Sajayan, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Subramaniam Siva. The film is about Anand, a troubled man trying to rebuild his life after personal setbacks, whose world is shaken when his wife Dhivya claims their newborn was swapped at birth. Anand is determined to uncover the truth, but he is drawn deeper into the shady world of baby trafficking, deception and old crimes.

In 2014, Varadarajan, a software developer, accidentally ran into a motorbike carrying a couple and their baby. Rajendran, an ambulance driver, helped rescue the couple, and then provided a cover story to protect Varadarajan, calling it a hit-and-run - after which they secretly gave the newly rescued baby to a family and grieving father whose baby had died during labour. Eventually, with time, Varadarajan and Rajendran became quite involved with abducting newborns from hospitals and selling them to couples who could not have children. Years later, Anand marries Dhivya, who suffers from borderline personality disorder. When Dhivya gives birth, she claims the baby she’s handed is not hers, but everyone dismisses her concerns as mental illness.

Anand believes her, and he enlists the services of his lawyer Venkat to run a DNA test, which proves that the baby had been swapped. Inspector Chinnasamy begins an investigation into this, which, when run to ground, uncovers a baby trafficking ring run by nurse Shailaja, Shailaja's twin sister, and Moorthy, who runs a nursing agency. They learn that Rajendran’s network supplied babies to Varadarajan, who had promised a US couple a baby born at an astrologically lucky time. Rajendran is murdered, and Anand traces the killers back to Gajaa, who reveals Varadarajan’s role. At a temple, Dhivya identifies her true child with the US couple. Anand rescues the child, and Rajendran's son kills Varadarajan, who finally receives justice, albeit late.

DNA (2025) combines emotional heft with tense and heart-pounding moments. The film is engaging and maintains our interest via multiple layers of character depth, fast pacing (the film could have been cut to 90 minutes) and intense atmosphere. The emotional core hits us hard and the stakes feel real and personal. Strong acting, an intriguing plot, and suspense are all combined in this film. The film was well-told, impactful and executed, according to reviews.
