"Odela 2" (2025) is a Telugu supernatural thriller and a new Telugu film directed by Ashok Teja. Starring Tamannaah Bhatia, Hebah Patel, and Vasishta N. Simha, this fantasy film is a sequel to the spine-chilling story of Odela village, where a spirit comes back to create fear. When the body of a rapist is buried under an incorrect ritual, his soul gets stuck between worlds, and terrible things happen to the innocent.
The movie starts in Odela, a small town in Telangana, where the murder of serial rapist Tirupati (Vasishta N. Simha) would have ushered in peace. However, the villagers have done Samadhi Shiksha, a ritual supposed to bind his soul, instead of cremating him. This goes wrong. Six months hence, Tirupati comes back as an ill-portending ghost, attacking newlywed women brutally. One day, a schoolgirl comes to the police station, possessed, carrying with her the cut-off head of Radha (Henah Patel), the wife of Tirupati, who had murdered him. Dread fills the village, and the police approach Radha for information.
Radha, who is in jail, instructs them to look up her sister Bhairavi (Tamannaah Bhatia), a Naga Sadhu by the name of Shiva Shakti. Living in seclusion and dedicated to Lord Shiva, Bhairavi is motivated by divine force and guarded by a holy snake. When she returns to Odela, she sees that the village is upset. She learns that the spirit of Tirupati is not only murdering men and women but also manipulating men's minds to commit atrocities. Bhairavi partners with a Muslim faith healer to disempower the ghost via rituals.
As the final battle approaches, Bhairavi confronts Tirupati’s spirit at the Odela Mallanna temple. With help from Lord Shiva’s energy, she manages to stop the spirit, though not without tragic consequences. The village suffers heavy losses, and the ending hints that evil may return again.
Although "Odela 2" attempts to blend horror with divine fantasy, critics believe the plot over depends on clichés of the past. Though there is a solid visual and an intriguing central character, Bhairavi's character does not live up to the strength and depth it would have. Despite this, Odela 2 is rated one of the most entertaining films to watch among those who like supernatural thrillers with a spiritual twist.
