“Paramapadham Vilayattu” (2021) is a Tamil political thriller film written and directed by Thirugnanam and produced by 24HRS Productions. Featuring Trisha Krishnan, Vijay Varma, and Nandaa, the movie deals with political conspiracy, betrayal, and a woman's desperate struggle for justice.

The film starts with “Chezhiyan” (Vela Ramamoorthy), the influential Chief Minister of the state, admitted to a hospital in a critical state. Dr. Gayathri (Trisha), the chief physician, does everything in her power to save him, but Chezhiyan passes away under mysterious conditions. His sudden death creates pandemonium in the ruling party, and all the leaders struggle to become the next CM. The son of the deceased leader is suddenly thrust into taking over, unaware of the Machiavellian politics unfolding behind the scenes.

Dr. Gayathri suspects foul play in the CM's death and discovers clues that indicate a well-planned conspiracy. Before she could expose the truth, she and her little daughter, “Suji” (Baby Manasvi), get kidnapped. Confined to a remote bungalow, Gayathri gets held captive and constantly guarded. But with her intellect and willpower, she manages to escape. Throughout her journey, she and her daughter get separated, leading to a tense game of cat and mouse with the goons trailing them. Gayathri must survive, protect her child, and reveal the truth.

"Paramapadham Vilayattu" begins with a good premise of political drama and survival of the hero. Trisha performs dedicatedly as a tough, capable woman trapped in a precarious situation. But the film slips out of the makers' hands as the story takes a diversion. The dull pace, weakly written villains, and boring chase scenes take away from the effect. There is the makings of an engrossing political thriller here but it's lost amidst lengthy scenes and predicted plot twists.
