“Paramporul” (2023) is a Tamil action thriller film. The movie was directed and written by C. Aravind Raj and was produced by Manoj and Girish under Kavi Creation. It starred Sarathkumar, Amitash Pradhan, and Kashmira Pardeshi.

The story revolves around “Aadhi”, a young man who is desperate for money to save his sister. During the course of a burglary, he meets Maithreyan, a morally dubious police inspector. Their meeting leads to a complex web of the illicit trade in idols. The two become allies, negotiating a dangerous landscape of greed, deception, and risk at every step.

This is an underworld into which Aadhi and Maithreyan will dive and discover buried secrets that had remained hidden for decades. But, can the duo complete their task or succumb to the evil forces?

Sarathkumar's powerful performance as a grey morality cop lends great depth and intensity to the movie. Amitash Pradhan provides a deep sense of emotion within Aadhi, as the central theme is one of unpredictable life and destiny, making this an all-resonating theme among viewers.

Although “Paramporul” plunges into an interesting premise with interesting moments, a slightly stronger narrative could have taken the film to another level. However, its exploration of the illicit idol trade and the moral dilemmas faced by its characters make it a gripping watch.

Released in 2023, the movie is available on Amazon Prime Video. It is released in multiple languages. If you are a movie enthusiast who is interested in full-on thrillers with a totally different storyline, then Paramporul should be featured in your watch list. With an interesting plot, the movie could easily be nominated as one of the best films ever made for its genre
