Kaali begins to work at a boy’s hostel as the warden. There he comes to know of a group of boys who are unruly. One of the boys Michael, is the son of a local leader and the leader of the pack. Kaali infuriated, puts an end to the antics of Michael, which causes a lot of problems between them. Things start going downhill when the gang start to revolt. An NRI student named Anwar, in the hostel becomes good friends with Kaali. He is in love with Anu but Michael also is besotted by her. Kaali requests Anu’s parents to accept Anwar and this makes things worse between Michael and Kaali. Turns out that Kaali knew Anwar from before. They then reveal Kaali’s real name as Petta. He then kills a man called Jithu who was the villain in their lives from the beginning.
The film is directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Kalanithi Maran. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and the story is written by Karthik Subbaraj. The cinematography is by Tirru (S. Thirunavukarasu). The star cast includes Rajinikanth, Trisha Krishnan, Vijay Sethupathi, Bobby Simha and Simran Bagga.
