"Polladhavan" is an action thriller movie directed by Muktha Srinivasan. Starring Rajinikanth, Lakshmi, Sripriya, Suruli Rajan and Sivachandran. The movie charts Seetha as she goes to a new job. She is assaulted during her travels, but a strange man intervenes, murdering her attacker and sparing her. Seetha gets to her new job later and finds her boss to be the very man who committed the murder. He then threatens her not to share his secret with anyone.

To meet merchant Manohar for a nanny position, Seetha goes by train with her nephew Raju. On the train, a man tries to assault her; someone shoots him to death. Seetha tells Inspector Moorthy later, after seeing the face of the murderer. She gets the nanny post; Manohar's daughter, Shoba, and she become fast friends. Seetha identifies Manohar as the murderer when he returns. Fearing for Raju's safety, he threatens her to make sure she won't report him or depart the estate. Multiple times, Seetha attempts unsuccessfully to flee. Even when she meets the police, she keeps silent. Though he is merciless, Seetha begins to notice Manohar's gentler side, confused by his haughty behaviour.

Flashbacks show Manohar's uncle Chandru, whom Manohar had previously incarcerated, raped Manohar's wife Kumudha. Kumudha then killed herself. Therefore, Manohar swore vengeance and vowed to protect Shoba. Manohar confesses on the train that he killed Chandru. Seetha now knows why he acted as he did and vows to keep his secret. As Seetha's narrative about remembering the killer's face varies, Inspector Moorthy's colleague starts to doubt her. He distrusts her, Moorthy agrees. Manohar intends to turn over his money to Seetha on Shoba's birthday and turn in. Nevertheless, the police arrest Seetha. Protecting her, Manohar confesses and is arrested. Manohar is set free years later and joins Seetha and Shoba.
