"Remo" (2016) is a Tamil romantic comedy film directed and written by Bakkiyaraj Kannan. It features Sivakarthikeyan and Keerthy Suresh in the lead. The plot revolves around an aspiring actor who disguises himself as a female nurse to enhance his acting and secretly woo the lady he loves.
Siva (Sivakarthikeyan), who is a theatre actor struggling to make it big, aspires to become a superstar but flops in auditions, particularly with emotional and romantic roles. He encounters Kavya (Keerthy Suresh), a gentle doctor, and falls in love with her at first sight. When he finds out that she is engaged to another doctor, Vishwa (Anson Paul), Siva is devastated but not willing to give up. To win her love, he pretends to be a woman named "Remo" and becomes a nurse at her hospital. As Remo, he becomes intimate with Kavya and helps her overcome personal issues. Meanwhile, he also attempts to impress her as himself, preparing to surprise-propose to her. While Kavya begins to be fond of Siva, she sticks to her engagement, creating emotional turmoil.
Vishwa gets suspicious and rushes to expedite the wedding, but Siva, as Remo, battles him and his henchmen when they attempt to kidnap Kavya by force. Meanwhile, ailing orphan girl Nancy instructs Siva to be honest with Kavya. Siva at last discloses his dual personality, but Kavya feels hurt and betrayed. She moves away from him. The two happen to meet again after some months on a bus, where Kavya spills out her suppressed feelings for Siva, having no idea that the old man she is confiding in happens to be Siva disguised. Later, Kavya forgives him and wants to marry him.
"Remo" is a vibrant and entertaining romantic comedy that has the perfect mix of humour, emotions, and charm. Sivakarthikeyan impresses us with his double act as Siva and Remo. The music, colourful visuals, and interesting screenplay make it an enjoyable watch. Although the plot is predictable, the movie wins your heart with its feel-good factor and chemistry between the lead pair.
