Adi, played by Farhan Akhtar has left his luxurious life in Mumbai and decides to stay in a small village in Meghalaya. He wants to be out of contact with the old life he used to live. His friends Joe, played by Arjun Rampal and KD, played by Purab Kohli still miss Adi and wish he would return. Joe is a Club partner and the judge at a reality show. KD and he meet very often at the club and reminisce their old times.

On Adi’s birthday his friends Joe and KD along with Joe’s wife and Adi’s wife, played by Prachi Desai, go to meet him. They all talk about the good times and soon get into a heated argument about how their band Magik didn’t work because of Adi’s aloofness and he in turn blames Joe for being too money minded, etc. They see no point in fighting over this and leave.

Menawhile Jia, played by Shraddha Kapoor is a music programmer and aspires to be a big singer one day. She lives with her father who plays the Sarod and sometimes teaches music to students. A boy called Uday comes to learn music from him and ends up playing the Sarod beautifully. Hearing the music, saddens her father as Jia’s brother too used to play it the same way but he committed suicide some years back.

Magik discovers Jia and her talent and take her as the lead singer in the band later. Rock On 2 is directed by Shujaat Saudagar and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
