Rooban" is a 2024 Tamil devotional movie scripted and directed by Ayyappan. Arumugam Kalaiappan, Karur Elang Karthikeyan, and Raja Manogarn are the producers of this film under AKR Future Films. Vijay Prasath and Gayatri Rema feature in the main roles of this film.

The movie, shot in a small village, tracks the life of "Shanmugam" (Vijay Prasath), a staunch devotee of Lord Ayyappa, and "his wife" (Gayatri Rema). The two have been childless for years, and their lives are filled with ridicule and ostracism at the hands of their neighbors. They are even not invited to family gatherings because their presence is deemed inauspicious.

Shanmugam and his wife find a deserted baby one day near a temple. They take it as a Godsend from Lord Ayyappa and name the child Mani, raising him as their own. Their lives finally display an air of happiness, but new issues arise with a tiger that starts to terrorize the village.

As the fear grows, the forest officer imposes tight restrictions, prohibiting devotees from making their yearly pilgrimage to Sabarimala. The people in the village are crushed, as the pilgrimage is a venerated tradition in their lives. Shanmugam, being a devout believer of his religion, is no quitter and fights to regain the right of the villagers to pray.

As the war intensifies, the novel explores themes of spirituality, commitment, and determination. How will Shanmugam overcome the odds? Will the villagers complete their pilgrimage? Rooban offers a poignant spiritual journey with passion, belief, and determination.

With the strong acting by Vijay Prasath as devoted Shanmugam and Gayatri Rema's strong performance of his supporting spouse, "Rooban" is a film that resonates with viewers who are fascinated by religious and mythological themes. It offers a combination of drama, spirituality, and family sentiments, so it is an engaging watch for television viewers who are interested in an experience of devotion on a TV screen.
