Sarkar (2005)

Sarkar is a 2005 Bollywood Political Crime thriller film starring Amitabh Bacchhan in the title role alongside with Abhishek Bachchan , Kay Kay Menon, Katrina Kaif, Anupam Kher, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Supriya Pathak and Tanisha Mukherjee. This film is the first installment of the Sarkar series and is inspired from the film Godfather. Sarkar Raj was later released in June 2008. Story of Subhash Nagre(Amitabh Bachchan) known by his followers as Sarkar, Lives in Mumbai who is approached by many to grant justice for various problems they face. He solves and promptly takes care to solve their troubles which the corrupt law and order has failed to deliver. Thus he uses his henchmen to solve the issues and taking law into his hands. His son Vishnu( Kay Kay Menon) plays a sleazy producer who falls in love with an actress Sapna(Priyanka Kothari) and has a wife Amrita(Rukhsaar Rehmaan). His other son is an upright young straightforward boy Shankar(Abhishek Bachchan) who after completing his education in United States, returns to India and is in love with Pooja( Katrina Kaif). Dubai based Don tries to strike a deal with Sarkar but is promptly refuses on moral grounds. Sarkar is powerful gangster who is framed for murdering a politician due to which Sarkar is imprisoned . Therefore Shankar his son steps in his shoes to lead the legacy and protect his father.
