Sattam En Kaiyil

“Sattam En Kaiyil” is a 2024 Tamil crime thriller film directed and written by Chachi, featuring Sathish, Ajay Raj, and Pavel Navageethan. The movie depicts an intricate crime, corruption, and deceitful plot.

At Yercaud Police Station, a guy gets brutally assaulted and imprisoned by dishonest A.S.I Basha after he meets a careless doctor. Meanwhile, a stammering taxi driver, Gautham, mistakenly hits a motorbike rider. Scared, he puts the injured rider into the boot of his car and arrests himself on suspicion of being drunk and driving to cover his tracks. But, Basha out of vengeance accuses him of carrying drugs.

As the tale progresses, social activist “Nivetha” gets murdered, and “S.I Nagaraj” is appointed to solve the crime, being under pressure to solve the case in no time. Clues start pointing to “Gautham”, the motorcyclist, and the crime, but reality is far uglier. Gautham pays Constable Sundaram to get the phone of the biker, which contains key evidence. Nagaraj manipulates the case, though, and makes Gautham the accused murderer.

The actual turn of events takes place when it is discovered that Nagaraj was the one behind Nivetha's murder. He had also been involved in an earlier hit-and-run case resulting in the death of a young girl Nivetha had tutored. The killing was captured on Nivetha's phone, so she became a target. Gautham, discovering the truth, outs Nagaraj in a live press conference, and Nagaraj is arrested. It is only then revealed that Nivetha was Gautham's sister, and his search for justice was personal.

With snug storytelling, surprising turns, and fiery performances, “Sattam En Kaiyil” holds the audience to the finish. The movie brings into focus police corruption and how power distorts justice, and hence it is a thrilling and stimulating watch.
