"Sivappu Sooriyan" is a 1983 action film directed by Muktha Srinivasan. It’s got Rajinikanth, Radha and Saritha. The movie is about Vijay, a merchant navy officer, who comes home on leave to visit his sister, Selvi, and brother-in-law, Vishwanthan. Vijay, a valiant merchant navy officer, comes home on leave to visit his sister Selvi and her husband Vishwanathan, but they are nowhere to be found. By chance, he encounters Chitra, a sweet young woman who develops feelings for him and takes it upon herself to assist. Together, they find Selvi, but she is a wreck, silenced and scarred. Vijay is distraught to see her this way and is committed to discovering what’s going on behind her affliction and Vishwanathan’s disappearance.
Aided by his bosom buddy Vidyasagar, Vijay discovers that Vishwanathan had turned approver against a strong-arm and was abducted by way of reprisal. To save him, Vijay courageously impersonates a smuggler and infiltrates the treacherous underworld. Bala, with his humour and audacity, gains the gang’s confidence, but covertly looks for Vishwanathan. After a nail-biting sequence, Vijay outwits the gang, saves his brother-in-law and conquers the criminals. Selvi, having watched her husband back to safety, finds her voice and joy once more. The tale concludes on an optimistic note with Vijay bringing the family back together, and Chitra remains by his side, proud of his bravery and spirit.
