“Takkar” is a 2023 Indian romantic action comedy Tamil film written and directed by Karthik G. Krish. The film features Siddharth as Gunasekaran, Divyansha Kaushik as Lucky, and Yogi Babu in an ensemble role. Ultimately, the film is the tale of two opposed individuals: scheming ambitious one and the disillusioned by riches, embroiled in an unthought-of and life-threatening escapade.
“Gunasekaran” (Siddharth), or "Gunz," is a young ambitious fellow with a dream of becoming a millionaire. Sick of doing odd jobs and being treated shabbily, he finally gets a respectable job as a taxi driver. Things change in his life when he meets Lucky, an affluent girl who's had enough of her cosseted existence and feels that money is the source of misery. Though they have such conflicting beliefs regarding money, the two strike up an improbable relationship.
Their worlds become turned upside down when Lucky gets kidnapped by a gang of mafia who is seeking ransom from her wealthy father. Trapped in a car trunk, she finds herself inadvertently back in Gunz's life when he takes that same car from the gang during a brawl. Thereafter starts a cat-and-mouse game as Gunz and Lucky are on the run, attempting to evade the dangerous criminals while also reconciling each other's perspectives on life, love, and money.
“Takkar” begins promisingly but soon slips away with its awkward storytelling and lack of emotional resonance. The humor is artificial, the action excessive, and the romance dead. Even though it has its glitzy introduction and a couple of exciting moments, the movie proves to be a plodding one that doesn't leave any impact. It is ultimately a forgettable effort at a road-adventure romance.
