“Teddy” is a 2021 Tamil science fiction action thriller film written and directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan. Blending science fiction and emotional drama, the film features Arya, Sayyeshaa, and a CGI teddy bear in a pivotal role. The movie narrates the story of an unlikely bond between a person who suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder and a talking teddy bear who possesses the soul of a young girl who is in a coma.

Srividya Purushottaman, aka Sri (Sayyeshaa), is a college student whose life is changed when she helps an accident victim and injures her hand. When treated in a private hospital, she is administered drugs that induce coma. Her soul, however, departs from her body and somehow finds refuge in a teddy bear. Then again, Shivanarayanan (Arya), being a smart person with OCD as well as possessing a photographic mind, leads an organized, reclusive life. One day he rescues a young girl being attacked, and the soul-grabbed teddy bear that had been stalking him comes knocking on his doorstep for assistance.

Initially doubted, Shiva believes Sri and hears about the medical conspiracy leading to her ailment. The two stumble upon an illegal worldwide organ trafficking organization led by Dr. Varadharajan, where healthy persons are subjected to drugging-comas and have their organs extracted. Shiva dispatches the teddy bear, which is embedded with a tracker, to Azerbaijan to monitor Sri's corpse. He then follows in haste and, together with the police in the region, dismantles the mafia and restores Sri's spirit to her body.

Though she comes around, Sri forgets her journey and her relationship with Shiva. They marry after a year with her gradually falling for him. Her soul still returns to the teddy bear while she sleeps, indicating their unconventional relationship. Teddy balances action, fantasy, and poignant emotion in a completely new experience on screen.
