The Wives is one of the recently released movies in the drama genre. This new film’s story backdrop is set in the dazzling yet deceptive world of Bollywood, wherein three women, namely, Sonali, Mouni, and Regina, are bound by marriage to major film stars, occupying lives that look perfect on the outside. Arriving at a glamorous awards party - cameras flashing, paparazzi swarming, and the tension begins to simmer. Sonali, the ex-actress-turned-social-worker, is fiercely intelligent, but feels stifled under the weight of her husband's success, itching to re-find herself. Mouni is an influencer-wife, successful in her own right, but her public persona hides deep insecurity and trauma from her childhood. Regina, the newcomer bride, is both innocent and aware and is quickly learning that high-end luxury comes with its own set of chains. What starts as a united sisterhood turns into a competition with a salacious rumour that one of their husbands is cheating.
As they circle one another, alliances shift and form: Sonali confides in Mouni about being trapped in a suffocating marriage, and Regina looks for mentorship. Loyalty changes when the salacious rumour is exposed as a manipulation of a tabloid with the intent of selling magazines. In the throng of media attention and betrayal of trust, they pull together. In the climactic press conference, they face the rumours together, opting to stand united despite their competitive nature. By revealing their truths to the public, they dismantle the false illusion of the perfect 'star wife' as well as take back a sense of autonomy.
