Tipu Sultan

The film "Tipu" is a forthcoming Kannada biographical drama movie. Pavan Sharma wrote and directed the movie and also featured in it. Sandeep Singh has produced it and Rashmi Sharma Films and Eros International will support the film. It will come out in theatres on April 11, 2025. It will be released in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

The movie speaks of the mythological Indian king called the Tiger of Mysore, "Tipu Sultan". He is celebrated as a freedom fighter and one of the best administrators in the history books. Tipu Sultan's beleaguered legacy has been controversial for centuries and is currently an ongoing debate in terms of history and politics. Tipu delves into the unknown stories surrounding his reign that have always painted him in the worst possible light.

The film explores allegations of religious conversions by force during his rule, a topic that has been very much debated in the political circles of Karnataka. Director and star Pavan Sharma takes up the daunting task of bringing on screen the enigmatic and many-sided personality of Tipu Sultan.

The narrative of the film attempts to strike a balance between historical facts and cinematic storytelling, attempting to present an impartial account of the achievements and controversies of the ruler. With research done by Rajat Sethi, an author and political commentator, the film attempts to stay grounded in historical facts while still engaging the audience.

Producer Sandeep Singh stated that the shoot had been halted temporarily due to a threat and intimidation towards him and members of his family. Such hardship only adds evidence to the controversies behind the portraiture of Tipu Sultan, the historical figure who sparks fiery debates regarding his persona.

As a new film on a contentious historical topic, Tipu will be both insightful and entertaining, providing viewers with a better sense of one of India's most controversial rulers.
