V1 Murder Case

“V1 Murder Case” is a 2019 Tamil suspense thriller film written and directed by Pavel Navageethan in his debut. The lead roles are played by Ram Arun Castro and Vishnupriya Pillai.

The story follows forensic expert “Inspector Agni” (played by Ram Arun Castro) who suffers from nyctophobia, or a fear of the dark, following a traumatic childhood experience. Along with that comes hallucinations resulting from a particular murder case that he had cracked long ago. His colleague “Inspector Luna” (played by Vishnupriya Pillai) convinces him to take up a new case of murder about a young girl named Narmadha, played by Gayathri.

The investigation takes them to “Inba” (Lijeesh), Narmadha's boyfriend, who confesses that they had problems in their relationship while staying together. Agni, however, feels that there is a deeper mystery and interrogates Narmadha's friend and another man who was in contact with her before she died.


A flashback shows why Agni is afraid of darkness. Many years ago, he was staying with his wife Blessie. She was murdered near a staircase. He then finds out that Blessie's death was also an accident, and he has killed an innocent man. Unable to bear this guilt, he takes the man's orphaned daughter, Sam, and leaves her in an orphanage.

When Agni’s boss forces him to resign due to his phobia, he vows to solve the case before leaving. During the investigation, Sam is kidnapped by a paedophile who was also a suspect in Narmadha’s murder. Agni rescues Sam and kills the attacker, finally overcoming his fear of darkness.

Agreed, Agni decides to investigate Narmadha's father. He takes him for questioning and after some tense moments discovers the shocking truth that her father murdered her by stabbing her in the neck with a pen for having a love affair with a lower-caste man.
